The DZ-2001A plugs into the Lionel command Base and optically isolates the data wire so that it can used with the DZ-2500 Switch Controller. The DZ-2001A prevents the TMCC control signal applied to the train tracks from being shorted out even when non-derailing connections are used to control the DZ-2500 Switch machine.
